- National significance in improving cost competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing
- Reduce wear and tear on Texas/U.S. highways
- Lower product distribution costs
- Reduce congestion and improve safety on America's highways
How does it work?
- 1 Train Engine pulls 150 trailers
- Trailers provide a slack free ride on the rail
- RoadRailer technology for fast, secure, & cost efficient shorthaul/longhaul truck rail movement
- Contractors will pick up loaded trailers from shippers and take them to the train assembly terminal in the McAllen Foreign Trade Zone
- Unique air ride system lifts the trailer as it is backed over the bogie. The air system then lowers the trailer and lifts and locks the tires above the tracks
City of McAllen Wireless Internet Access
- The City of McAllen proposes to blanket the Heart of the City with free Wireless Internet access
- All city owned property will eventually receive coverage
McAllen Research and Education Park
The Research and Education Park will be located on 400 acres of public and private land near the
McAllen Foreign Trade Zone. It is ideally situated in close proximity to the South Technology Campus,
McAllen Miller International Airport, the 18.5 acre McAllen Convention Center Complex, downtown
McAllen, and numerous hotels, restaurants and housing developments. Just west of the site is the
6,000-acre Sharyland Plantation, one of the finest mixed-use master planned communities in the
country. Sharyland Plantation's many schools, businesses, restaurants, and multi-family and single-
family homes provide additional amenities for the park.
With so many neighboring services and facilities already in place, the Research and Education Park will have a "work, live
and play" environment before it even opens.
